Crunchyroll’s Second Annual Anime Awards were a resounding success

Last night the Anime Community gathered in Hollywood for the second Annual Anime Awards. Crunchyroll  pulled out all the stops by inviting many of the community’s biggest stars, warming up the crowd live band playing Classic OSTs, and even rolling out an orange carpet for the attendees to stroll in on. The hosts were great and definitely kept the mood pretty hype throughout the night but let’s get down to the nitty gritty and see which nominees were the best of 2017!

As the show rolled on it became apparent that my hero was destined to win every single category and then this happened…

It’s safe to say  that most of the audience was shocked at the results of the final category. My hero Academia was the crowd favorite and had a ton of hype behind it but anyone that saw Made in Abyss agreed that it earned it’s spot at the top for 2017. Crunchyroll also payed respect to Voice Actor Chris Sabbot, who has voiced over 600 charcaters in anime over the years. Chris accepted The Industry Icon Award and gave a speech that brought smiles to the entire community as we remembered all the amazing moments we’ve shared. Anime as a whole is growing rapidly and this years awards show was a treat for us all. Here’s to next year being bigger and better. PLUS ULTRA!!!
